Since being sworn into office in Gardner, Mayor Nicholson has been invited to the White House on two separate occasions.
Mayor Nicholson selected as a group of 30 individuals from Massachusetts for a discussion with the Executive Office of the President regarding infrastructure funding and how federal programs can be improved to have a greater impact on the local level. Mayor Nicholson was 1 of only 2 mayors in Massachusetts to be invited to attend this meeting.

In May of 2023, Mayor Nicholson was named to the Worcester Business Journal’s Power 50 list for 2023.
The article states: “The Power 50 is our annual list of the most influential professionals in the Central Massachusetts business community, where we in the WBJ newsroom tell the story of how power is shared and used in the region, as told through the people wielding it most effectively. In this comprehensive list, we strive to inform you where power truly lies in the region’s economy while still providing new names and stories year after year.”

In March of 2023, Mayor Nicholson received the Music Advocacy Award from the Massachusetts Music Educators Association for his work in helping to revitalize the Elementary School Band Program in Gardner and provide the Gardner Public Schools music programs with the tools they need to have the biggest impact on their students.
This included re-instating the elementary school band program, which now has over 200 students enrolled during its second year in existence, providing the schools music programs with a $100,000 earmark for supplies, equipment, instruments, music, and other items needed to enrich the programs, and adjusting common planning time schedules to make a more integrated curriculum.

Mayor Nicholson was selected as one of the recipients of the Worcester Business Journal 40 Under 40 Awards in August of 2022. Per the Worcester Business Journal, this award recognizes outstanding young leaders who are shaking up the Central Mass business community and leading us into the future.
